Aale J. Agans
Ph.D. Student
Aale earned their undergraduate degree from Bowdoin College, where they majored in biology. As an undergrad, Aale was a member of the Bateman Lab, where they researched embryo development and chromosome dynamics in the dark-winged fungus gnat Bradysia coprophila. They also implemented multiple genetic editing techniques in Bradysia to help enable modern experimental genetic approaches in the organism. After joining the Molecular and Cell Biology Ph.D. program at UConn in fall of 2025, they joined the Hanlon lab in spring of 2026. Their research is currently focused on female meiosis and spindle dynamics in Drosophila melanogaster and Bradysia coprophila.
